Metallica · M72 — Salt Lake City, UT 2027
The 2027 North American leg of the M72 tour covers 12 cities, one night each. Salt Lake City is on Saturday 19 June at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The stage is in the centre of the field with the audience all around and the standing Snake Pit inside it; Limp Bizkit and Avatar support every show. Tickets went on general sale on 25 September.
The M72 tour puts the stage in the very centre of the field with the audience all around; the musicians move to play to each side in turn, so the band is visible from anywhere in the stadium.
Inside the stage is a standing ring called the Snake Pit, where you are surrounded by the stage and closest to the band.
Limp Bizkit and Avatar open every show.
Limp Bizkit is turn-of-the-millennium rap metal, Avatar a Swedish metal band whose stage is like a grotesque circus; arrive early and hear all three.
Metallica songs often build from clean guitar, faster and heavier, until the whole crowd roars along: One and Master of Puppets both work this way.
In a stadium, that climb from quiet to fury is amplified by tens of thousands of voices. These are signature songs, not a confirmed setlist.

Creeping Death, The Unforgiven, Sad But True… Master of Puppets, One and Enter Sandman back to back was a total rush. The only regret: Whiskey in the Jar and Fade to Black never showed up this time.

With one Chinese fan in trousers, a hoodie and a raincoat, and sixty thousand people in shorts, vests and tank tops… the show went off without a hitch… A perfect night!
