BIGBANG XX : COSMOS Taipei
XX : COSMOS is BIGBANG’s 20th-anniversary world tour, the XX standing for those twenty years. Taipei gets three nights at the Taipei Dome, 9, 10 and 11 October, all at 6pm, the 9th added later; all three were sold out when checked. There is a main stage and an extended stage, and YG has put the new single BiiiG into the anniversary project, so the reunion looks forward as well as back.
G-Dragon’s clipped rap, Taeyang’s melodic lines and Daesung’s fuller voice are distinct from the first note.
A song passes line by line between the three, from the early ballads to the dance tracks that get the whole dome jumping, twenty years of songs in one night.
This tour is a reunion twenty years on, for people who grew up with them and those who found them later.
YG has made the new single BiiiG part of the anniversary project, so alongside the familiar songs there is a new sound from this year.
When the lights go down, tens of thousands of crown-shaped lightsticks come on together, from the main stage out along both sides of the extended stage.
On all three nights, the dome is full of people singing along.
