Taiwan Lantern Festival in Miaoli 2027
The Taiwan Lantern Festival is the island’s national Lantern Festival celebration, guided by the Tourism Administration and hosted by a different county or city each year. In 2027 it returns to Miaoli for the first time since 2011. Its theme, “between mountains and sea, a slow city of light”, follows light from mountains, coast, tea gardens and farmland, woodcarving, rush weaving and Miaoli’s firecracker dragon dance to science parks and AI installations, showing the county’s culture, landscape and technology industry. Instead of spreading across Zhunan and Toufen as last time, it gathers on a single site around THSR Miaoli Station in Houlong, which shares a hub with Fengfu railway station. It runs from Lantern Festival day, 20 February, to 7 March 2027.
