Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance 2026
On September 24–26, the fire dragon returns to Wun Sha Street and Tung Lo Wan Road in Tai Hang. Incense and the neighbourhood’s shared effort shape the evening. If you want to experience Hong Kong beyond its skyline, make time for a Mid-Autumn tradition still lived in its streets.
A 67-metre dragon studded with burning incense moves through the streets, carried by more than 300 performers. Watch how the long body follows a turn of the head: light, smoke and coordinated movement give the dragon a presence a still photograph cannot capture.
Festivals & traditionsThe ICH Office traces the tradition to an 1880 story of villagers dancing a dragon to ward off an epidemic; it joined the national intangible heritage list in 2011. With that history in mind, watch the shared effort behind the dragon: this is a neighbourhood continuing its ritual of wishing for peace and safety.
