Bring your curiosity and pull up a chair at a game table.
SPIEL Essen 2026
SPIEL is the world’s largest board game fair, open for four days at Messe Essen from 22 to 25 October, where well over a thousand new games appear for the first time each year. The joy is not only in buying new boxes: sit down while an explainer teaches the rules, play a few rounds with strangers, then see the Golden Demon Warhammer painting contest and how game worlds are drawn and made.
The halls are full of demo tables where explainers teach the rules from scratch, and your tablemates are often people you have just met.
