Halloween in the Witch City: witch hats on the wharf by day, a lantern-lit night market after dark.
Salem Haunted Happenings 2026
The 1692 witch trials gave Salem its name as the Witch City. Haunted Happenings is a month-long Halloween celebration spread across town, with each event run and ticketed separately; this year Salem also turns 400. There is a community parade on 1 October, a night market along the lantern-lit paths of Pioneer Village on the evenings of 16, 17, 23 and 24 October, and on the morning of the 17th the town gathers on the wharf in witch hats for one big photo. Pick your dates first, then what to see.
