Brass right beside you: a whole town’s street-band festival.
HONK! Festival of Activist Street Bands 2026
HONK! began in Somerville in 2006, a festival that puts brass bands in the street, free and open to all. From 9 to 11 October there is a lantern parade on Friday night, Davis Square plays from noon into the evening on Saturday, and on Sunday the big parade marches into Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest. Bands range from New Orleans-style brass to community learners, and the music is tied to social causes and public space. The full schedule comes out in early October.
