Sundance Film Festival Boulder 2027
The 2027 Sundance Film Festival moves to Boulder, Colorado, with in-person screenings from 21 to 31 January and online screenings from 28 to 31 January. The screening venues are all in Boulder: Boulder Theater and the Dairy Arts Center downtown, several auditoriums on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, the Cinemark Century in East Boulder, Chautauqua Auditorium, E-Town Hall and more. The 2027 line-up was not yet announced when checked on 2 October, so the films below are 2026 examples.
This edition of Sundance moves to Boulder, Colorado: in person from 21 to 31 January and online from 28 to 31 January.
It has always put new directors and unfamiliar subjects up front; this is its first time in Boulder, and the 2027 line-up has not been announced.
Valerie Veatch’s Ghost in the Machine investigates the origins of artificial intelligence and the power and imagination behind it.
You leave the screening with questions that follow you out: who shapes the stories we tell about these technologies, and how they enter everyday life.
Josephine follows an eight-year-old girl who has witnessed a crime as she tries to feel safe again; Big Girls Don’t Cry goes back to New Zealand in 2006 and follows a 14-year-old girl exploring desire, identity and the internet.
Both put a big subject inside one specific person, which is often how Sundance tells its stories.

Screening venues are spread across Boulder: Boulder Theater and the Dairy Arts Center downtown (three rooms: Gordon Gamm, Grace Gamm and Boedecker), Macky, Muenzinger, Roe Green and Old Main on campus, the Cinemark Century in East Boulder, the Canyon Theater at the Main Library, BHS Theater at Boulder High School, Casey Middle School and Chautauqua Auditorium and E-Town Hall; festival headquarters is at the Hotel Boulderado. Check the map and leave time between screenings, especially in winter.
Packages go on public sale on 15 October, while single tickets only open on 8 January; members and donors get earlier presales.
Package holders choose films before single tickets open and can change selections up to 4 hours before a screening; single tickets have to be won on the day of sale.
Ignite pricing is only for ages 18–25 and enrolled students and needs free registration; Express passes are for donors only.
Some films may deal with trauma.
Use the current-edition official venue or city map once published; do not inherit past booth positions.
