Nana Furiya: Original Picture-Book Art
Nana Furiya (born 1961) is a Japanese picture-book artist living in Slovakia. She debuted 40 years ago with Mekkira Mokkira Doon Don, written by Hasegawa Setsuko, and has published new work almost every year since, along with illustrations for many children’s books. Her lines and compositions are bold, her colours clear, and she changes materials and techniques to suit each story. This show brings together about 350 original drawings from 15 of her books, shown alongside the books, including the 1998 cover original for Tomodachiya, written by Uchida Rintaro. Talks and workshops by the artist and gallery talks by the curators are planned, with details to come. It runs from 30 January to 21 March 2027; general admission is ¥500, cash only.
