Melbourne in January: tennis from morning until late at night.
Australian Open 2027
The 2027 Australian Open runs from 11 to 31 January at Melbourne Park. The first six days are Opening Week (11–16 January): qualifying, open practice, the AO 1 Point Slam, the Opening Ceremony and AO LIVE concerts. The main draw starts on the 17th, with the women’s final on the 30th and the men’s final on the 31st. The 2026 tournament drew more than 1.3 million visits.
During Opening Week, 11–16 January, the outside courts host qualifying: lose once and you are out, win three in a row and you are in the main draw. On the practice courts, professionals drill serves and baselines again and again, a fence away from you.
